Drift complains he cant fight without guns, so Wing trains Drift in combat and swordplay. After he is rebuilt, Wing tells Drift he can't leave until he can beat Wing in unarmed combat. Wing takes him back to the hidden city, 'The New Crystal City' and the Cybertronian 'Knights' there rebuild him. Drift tries to run off to the ship first and ditch Wing, and the slavers kick his butt.

Wing wants to free the slaves and Drift wants a ship to escape the planet. Drift and Wing team up to fight some slavers. When Wing asks his name, he's vulnerable and alone and afraid they might recognize the name Deadlock, so he tells them he is Drift. The first warrior he met, 'Wing' seems to want to rehabilitate him, trying to teach him the ultimate cause in life is to protect and serve those weaker than you. There, he encountered a warrior from an ancient and unaffiliated sect of Cybertronians, who embraced samurai-style code, and refused to fight in the great war for Cybertron, choosing instead to leave Cybertron and live in their hidden city.

At some point he was thought to have died but actually escaped when Turmoil tried to capture him by jumping into an escape pod and making planetfall. Soon he developed a name as a Decepticon warrior who Megatron named Deadlock, known for having slaughtered many Autobots. He joined up with the Decepticons because they didn't want to be helpless. In a rage Drift found he was good at beating people up. His friend Gasket died in an accident when 'Drift' grabbed a security officer's gun and it went off. Which, apparently, is all that is needed for this franchise.In the past, Drift started out as a common citizen of Cybertron, who was starving while his government ignored his plight. His adrenaline fast pace almost distracts us from the bad story, and keeps your eyes on the screen.

What good can be said of it? Visually, Michael Bay keeps things interesting. The actors are equally as flat, with Mark Whalberg having zero dramatic presences, and the other actors clearly phoning it in, not that we would really notice otherwise with so little character development (actually.none).

The dialogue is atrocious, literally full of one-liners, obviously stalling or giving dumb-down exposition to set up the next action sequence. Formula, it seems, involves recycling the same storyline, but interchanging its main actors. It literally refuses to propel the narrative.

In the end, you are left to not only wonder what the point of that was, but are amazed with how uninspired the series is. None of it makes any particular sense, and the stakes are the most contrived as possible. In this case, we find the allegiances of the US Government turning against the autobots, ostensibly striking a deal with alien bounty hunters to destroy them. For one, it creates a new villain for which grandiose asinine action sequences can be had, and it sets up the franchise for yet more films, literally starting at square one. But it does, and director Michael Bay tries earnestly to out due his special affects antics, resulting in a film of visual spectacle but nothing else. Loud, utterly pointless, breath-taking in its stupidity, and flatly acted, it's a film that should otherwise not exist. In what can only be described as a parody of the series, Transformers: Age of Extinction offers a searing indictment against needless sequels. Rating: PG-13 (Language|Brief Innuendo|Sci-Fi Violence and Action) A new group of humans, led by Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg), helps Optimus Prime (Peter Cullen) and the Autobots rise up to meet their most fearsome challenge yet: a worldwide war of good versus evil. Meanwhile, an ancient and powerful new menace sets its sights on Earth. As humanity begins to pick up the pieces, a shadowy group emerges to try to take control of history. After an epic battle, a great city lies in ruins, but the Earth itself is saved.
